Using Business & Personal Emails for Township Business |
|
Trustee Berry used teri@berrysblooms.com and berrysbloomsweddings@gmail.com, Trustee Ginley used johnhginleyjr@gmail.com, and Trustee Pace used rpace@bankersguarantee.com. Looking at the addresses, Berry owns Berry's Blooms, and Pace is President of The Bankers Guarantee Title & Trust Company. Ginley just used a Gmail address. |

Ask yourself. Why weren't they using email addresses on the Granger Township domain of www.grangertwp.org? It is not rocket science to set up email addresses on a domain and be able to access them from anywhere. In fact, Fiscal Officer Baker had dlbaker@grangertwp.org, and Zoning Inspector Davis had zoning@grangertwp.org. |

Could using your business address could be a subtle plug for your business? Trustee Pace even added his business signature in emails at times. |

Using your own business or personal email addresses could easily present problems if someone requests public records. This was evident in my request to Mr. Baker. He had to email the Trustees to see if they had any records that fell within my request. Of course, he had to send the email to their business and personal addresses. This practice that Granger was using definitely was outside of the spirit of Ohio's Public Records Law. |

On the Township page, Trustees now have their own email addresses on the Granger domain. Because I did a narrow search, I wonder if there are more Trustee emails out there that never became a public record when they should have. |
